CRC Typhoon Haiyan Emergency Field Hospital Experience

CRC Typhoon Haiyan Emergency Field Hospital Experience

We’ve just completed a fascinating and profoundly emotional project for the Canadian Red Cross about the experience Canadian delegates underwent during their deployment to the Philippines following disaster like typhoon Haiyan. CRC deployed an emergency field hospital in the city of Ormoc, and helped thousands of patients, delivered 418 babies, and trained Philippine Red Cross staff and volunteers in how to deploy and operate the field hospital, which was left behind as a legacy. This video draws on the humanitarian core, about relationship-building, and the day-to-day experience from both the Filipino and Canadian perspectives.

Working directly with the Philippines Red Cross staff and volunteers, our Creative Director Jeff Lively and senior Producer Alex Keyserlingk interview a new mother whose child was born in the Red Cross field hospital soon after Typhoon Haitian in November 2013. We also interviewed local hospital staff, Canadian and Philippines Red Cross staff, and other recipients of service in Ormoc, Philippines. We are developing a film for the Canadian Red Cross that will share the personal experiences of Canadian delegates, drawing on the humanitarian core, the relationship-building and empowerment process through the framework of the Typhoon Haiyan Emergency Response Unit deployment in 2013 and 2014.

Two Minutes of Silence

Two Minutes of Silence

HyperActive was honoured to be chosen as the production company for the Royal Canadian Legion’s special “Two Minutes of Silence” film. Over the course of the year, we have filmed prominent Canadians like Cdr. Chris Hadfield, Gen. Rick Hillier, Michael Bublé, the Governor General, the Prime Minister, and about twenty others, all of whom appear in juxtaposition with a multi-layered scrolling background that features historical photography from many of the conflicts in which Canadian men and women have served. The film, which is silent, pays homage to armed forces and RCMP members, many of whom paid the ultimate price for the freedom Canadians enjoy. This morning, we stand at the Cenotaph alongside the Royal Canadian Legion as this film is  premiered as part of the national Remembrance Day ceremonies.

Kenojuak Cultural Centre and Print Shop

Kenojuak Cultural Centre and Print Shop

For over fifty years, some of the world’s most exquisite and sought-after art has been produced by the people of Cape Dorset, a small island community 400 km west of Iqaluit, NU. It has been a real honour for HyperActive to work with the Cape Dorset Inuit as they set the stage for a campaign to build the "Kenojuak Cultural Centre and Print Shop", a modern facility to be opened in 2015 in Cape Dorset, NU. Working with the Inuit, we have developed the campaign Case for Support, print materials (fact sheets, brochure), and now a very special film, shot and beautifully edited by Jeff Lively, which forms the primary visual storytelling tool for the campaign. Take a few minutes to watch this: we’re very proud of it!!

The Parole Board of Canada

The Parole Board of Canada

With a Gentle Touch: The Parole Board of Canada asked us to create a step-by-step video that would help people with a criminal record get that record erased and help avoid errors on the form that could slow down the process. This animated piece reaches a variety of literacy and language levels with an approach that shows dignity and respect.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada

The Stakes Are High: We recently helped Citizenship and Immigration Canada draw attention to the problem of fake and dishonest immigration "consultants" who promise everything... and deliver nothing. This video, scheduled for play in theatres, social media, and traditional broadcast, has a great premise and some really imaginative editing techniques... see if you can figure out how we did it!!
