Podcast #8 – Pushing the Knowledge Boundaries
The focus of this podcast was to bring viewers into the “active” phase of the mission, and to reflect our overall philosophy of not only tracking the progress of the mission, but engaging the audience in the process of the mission. For example, a young Canadian scientist who is part of the Phoenix mission team in Arizona talks about how the entire group operates on “Mars time” in order to be in sync with the passage of days and nights on the red planet. To support the Canadian Space Agency’s aggressive public communications and marketing efforts, design web content that would create interest among Canadians of all ages in the Phoenix Mars Mission – a multi-national “Scout” mission in which Canada and the CSA play a vital role; to do so by capturing the excitement of the mission’s events as they unfold in as close to “real time” as possible. Knowing from prior experience that the engineers and scientists in Canada’s space program are as interesting and passionate as they are learned, HyperActive used a series of key mission specialists as spokespersons for the mission, and went to Arizona to shoot b-roll and interviews as the active part of the mission was taking place. This was supplemented with acquired footage and animations from space agencies around the world involved in the mission. A series of ten podcasts, delivered in English and in French, deployed strategically over the course of the mission’s active phase. |
