A full “Retention Toolkit”, including Leaders’ video; Employee video; poster series (six posters total); and brochure; Retention Checklist document; Retention Toolkit Utilization Guide. All components were delivered in English and in French. The food industry is striving to address skills shortages in many key areas related to both “front line” and supporting positions. In an industry not known for high pay, it was important for us to identify the “case for support” for considering a career in the industry, and to demonstrate strong retention strategies to those who manage line staff. We also knew we had an opportunity to make a strong motivational statement to all concerned about the vibrancy and importance of this industry to Canadians. Our research showed that there is significant passion and commitment in the industry: a high percentage of the current leadership are people with more than 20 years on the job, the bulk of whom have risen through the ranks. Unlocking and communicating that passion became a core strategy for the campaign. It was also imperative that the project embrace new participants and reach out in a broad way to industry for consultation and creative input for the kit. HyperActive produced a localizable, multi-media “Retention Toolkit” in English and French, including motivational videos for Employees, English and French training videos for Leaders; English and French print materials – 6 Posters, 3 Pamphlets, User Guides and Checklists, Web Media & DVD’s. The Retention Toolkit is in its deployment phase (March – April 2007). Early indications match the enthusiasm with which the Toolkit was received in the cross Canada focus testing phase. |
