Deliverables

Two English and French Videos: General Communications and Recruitment. CDROM, Mini CDROM, Web New Media Content.

Challenge

Canada’s cryptologic agency has been working quietly and effectively for sixty years, but in the wake of 9/11 and other world-altering events, the Communications Security Establishment identified a need to be better understood by all Canadians, especially young mathematicians, linguists and computer engineers who will form the agency’s future work force.

Strategies

Using the simplest possible language, and reinforced by intriguing computer animation, the General Communications video explains the role and the importance of the CSE, and its relationship with other organizations all focused on protecting Canada's security in a changing world. The Recruitment version features a unique sound-track and interviews with young CSE employees who explain the challenges and opportunities presented by the Agency.

Tools

Two videos, approximately 10 minutes in length, one focused on communicating the CSE to a general audience, the other designed to attract recruits. Both videos were produced in English and in French.

Results

The general communications version of the video is used in briefing sessions with members of parliament, journalists and other interested parties to educate them about CSE. The recruitment version in used in Job Fairs, campus recruiting tours and a variety of the other venues.
