Research says that reaching young people with career information about driving buses should include advertising on the buses themselves. HyperActive "personalized" the connection between operators, their passengers, their vehicles, and their working environment.

Put Your Career In Gear Brochure

Using an open, friendly visual style and taking cues from www.driveabus.ca and poster advertising campaign, this brochure was developed for high "point of sale" visibility in guidance offices and employment/career centres in colleges and universities, and describes career opportunities in all five sub-sectors of Canada's bus industry.

Deliverables

English and French Television Commercials, 2 English and 2 French Videos, English and French Radio Commericals, Print, New Media Content, Website.

Challenge

To market careers in the bus industry in the absence of a post-secondary training “target” by using public media and non-traditional approaches; To raise the profile of MCPCC as a new human resources sector council; To brand the bus industry as high-tech, offering significant flexibility for those seeking a career.

Strategies

Create a “buzz” for young people around a career seen as almost invisible - working as a bus operator in one of five sectors (urban, inter-city, tour and charter coach, school bus, accessible transit); Draw on key attractions including human contact, travel, independence, flexibility and training as the defining features of the industry.

Tools

A high-energy interactive website, television PSA, radio PSAs and in-bus urban transit advertising placement; Full package for guidance counsellors and teachers including brochures, posters and display cards all pointing to the website “www.driveabus.ca / www.monautobus.ca”.

Results

Strong, consistent web hits with follow-up contact to transit providers. Long-range commitment by bus companies and schools to continue to present materials.
