CSA determined the need to position Canada's space industry as very diverse, offering career opportunities for young people in skilled trades as well as in scientific and technical positions. Develop a high-energy video for primary and high school students using real people in a variety of roles, to entice young people to consider careers in Canada’s space industry. While stressing that excellence is expected, dispel myths that the Canadian space program is an exclusive place for only the absolutely best and brightest minds. French and English videos that take a high-energy look at a number of people who have made careers out of space, capturing their personalities as well as full descriptions of the kinds of things they do. HyperActive carefully selected a variety of technical, scientific, and other jobs, and added continuity and perspective provided by Canadian astronauts Julie Payette and Chris Hadfield. The videos have been an extraordinary success, far exceeding the client’s expectations. In addition to distribution to high school students and undergrads in colleges and universities, the video is a big hit with senior primary school teachers, who are interested in having Grade 6, 7, and 8 children think about careers in space. |
